About The Event

The International Conference on Civil Engineering Innovation and Sustainable Development (CEISD-2026) was held on April 26, 2026, at Brihaspati Sadan, Nepal Administrative Staff College, Jawalakhel, Kathmandu. The one-day conference was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering, Everest Engineering College, Lalitpur, and featured more than 40 research papers from participants representing six countries: Australia, Germany, Nepal, India, the UAE, and Japan, reflecting its international reach and scope. The conference was chaired by Hari Krishna Shrestha, Principal of Everest Engineering College, and Bed Raj KC, Vice President of Pokhara University, who attended as the Chief Guest. Other key participants included Buddhi Raj Joshi, Dean of Pokhara University; Arun Kumar Bhandari, Chief Executive Officer of Everest Engineering College; and Lakshmi Nath Nepal, Chairman of Everest Engineering College. The inaugural speech was delivered by the Chief Guest, while the welcome speech was given by Romharsh Oli, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Everest Engineering College. The conference was divided into two main sessions: a keynote session and a technical session. The keynote session was hosted by Gokarna Bahadur Motra, Professor at Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering, and included five speakers covering a range of themes relevant to Nepal's engineering and development landscape. Padma Bahadur Shahi, Chair of the Nepal Engineering Council, spoke about the need for quality control in engineering education. He also discussed the Washington Accord and current transportation challenges in Kathmandu Valley. ML Kansal, from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, highlighted the importance of water security and its link to health and survival. Sri Ram Neupane, Member of Parliament, spoke on the importance of hydropower for Nepal's development. Krishna Singh Basnet, President of the Structural Engineers' Association Nepal, discussed the need for integrated urban resilience. Netra Prakash Bhandari, from Ehime University, Japan, shared lessons from earthquake disasters in Japan and explained the role of early warning systems in disaster preparedness. The keynote session concluded with the distribution of tokens of appreciation and certificates to the speakers. The technical session included research presentations based on the theme "Smart, Sustainable and Resilient Built Environment." Researchers presented their experimental studies and shared findings with participants. Certificates of participation were distributed at the end of the session. The closing session was held from 5 pm to 6 pm and included remarks from presenters, a keynote reflection by ML Kansal, and comments from session chairs. Rajan Lama, Vice Principal of Everest Engineering College, highlighted the importance of the conference in promoting research collaboration and knowledge sharing among academia, research institutions, and industry. The program concluded with certificate distribution to participants. The event was organized with support from associate partners and sponsors, reflecting collaboration between academic institutions and the engineering industry in advancing sustainable civil engineering development in Nepal.
